Data are restricted to samples whose principal catchment lithology was the Longstaff Bluff Turbidite Formation. After transformations to remove the effects of skewness, and omission of certain elements whose frequency distributions were heavily censored by the analytical detection limit, the data were subjected to R-mode factor analysis. A 7-factor model was adopted after a series of cross-validation experiments; this accounts for 79% of the total data variance.
